Lamb of God Upcoming Plans To Work On New Music
According to bassist John Campbell, metalcore band Lamb of God intend to start working on new music soon. In an interview with And Now the Band podcast, Campbell confirmed the following plans: “That’s more or less what it is. We just wrapped up, with the [Headbanger’s] Boat, our tour cycle. And now it’s time to catch our breath and start working on new stuff.”
When interviewer Tom Robbins noted that “everyone is excited” about upcoming Lamb of God music, Cambell continued saying: “Well, don’t hold your breath, ’cause it’s gonna take a little time.”
Robbins then observed that the band’s songs follow a specific formula, with Cambell following up: “We definitely have a process," he said. "We definitely have a way of doing what we do. And I don't think that's a slight in any way, shape or form. We've gotten pretty good at it. And we write music that I absolutely love to perform. And I consider myself incredibly lucky to be able to be part of this band and do what we do. There's so many talented people out there. The luck provides the opportunities, but then you have to do, with those opportunities, something that moves you forward in a positive way, with more luck coming in. But there's a whole lot of luck involved."
Lamb of God was formed in 1994 in Richmond, Virginia. They received five Grammy Award nominations, released nine critically acclaimed albums and are widely seen as one of the most distinguished and innovative bands in heavy metal music.
Next year, the band's lead singer Randy Blythe will be on a book tour throughout North America in support of his second book, “Just Beyond the Light: Making Peace with the Wars Inside Our Head”. The tour features a spoken word performance, audience Q&A, along with a signed copy of the publication. Blythe commented: “I’m stoked to hit the road in support of my new book, ‘Just Beyond the Light’ – this will be my first solo tour, and without a band behind me, what can people expect? Well, a little bit of book talk… and a bunch of insane stories from my whacked-out life, obviously. I’ll also be answering some questions and signing stuff after – see ya there, ladies & gents!”
Describing his book, Blythe noted that it is a “tight, concise roadmap of how I have attempted to maintain what I believe to be a proper perspective in life, even during difficult times.” He added: “For me, the single most gratifying aspect of being an artist is learning that your work has been useful to others in some way. I've been told by lots of readers that my last book, ‘Dark Days’, helped them – I hope ‘Just Beyond the Light’ does the same.”
